Born from a love of craftsmanship, travel and the natural world.
OUR STORY
KLEED was born in 2016 from two worlds: a love of beautiful things, and a deep connection to the natural world.
For founder Carolina Guedes Cruz, fashion and conservation had always existed side by side. Time spent working on wildlife conservation projects in Africa shaped her respect for nature and the communities that protect it, while a lifelong fascination with craftsmanship, textiles and design inspired a very different kind of journey.
There was another influence closer to home: her grandmother, remembered in flowing silk kimonos and long dresses: an enduring image of effortless elegance that would help inspire KLEED's first pieces.
What began with limited resources, surplus fabrics and a small network of seamstresses gradually became a world of its own.
FROM PORTUGAL TO INDIA
As KLEED grew, the search for exceptional craftsmanship led Carolina to India and, eventually, Jaipur — a city alive with colour, textiles and generations of artisanal knowledge.
There, relationships with local makers opened the door to techniques that remain at the heart of KLEED today: handloom weaving, ikat, traditional block printing and intricate embroidery. These are processes shaped by time and human touch, giving every piece its own character.
Those relationships have grown alongside KLEED. We continue to work with artisans and partners whose knowledge and traditions bring our collections to life, creating slowly and in limited quantities with respect for the people behind every piece.
